Occlusal appliance therapy

A custom made bite stabilising appliance (bite guard or splint) to be worn on the lower or upper teeth during sleep. It’s role is to protect the teeth from the damaging effects of teeth grinding (bruxism) and clenching. In addition to this the bite guard serves to reduce the excessive forces on the TMJ’s and surrounding muscles. Following the consultation patients are recommended a design suited to their needs.

Patient testimonials

From constant pain to confident smiles

A patient success story

"I've suffered from TMJ pain, I would say for a few years now. Sometimes I would wake up and have some pain in my jaw due to clenching and grinding at night that has exacerbated over time. I went through TMJ therapy with Dr. Roop, she really took a holistic approach and gave me both an appliance that I could use at day & night that is actually custom fitted. Thanks to Dr. Roop, I feel like I'm in a better position to manage my TMJ pain throughout the day and throughout the night. And I've noticed gradual changes, over time for the past few months."
