Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a traditional complimentary therapy. It involves the insertion of fine needles into specific areas of your face and body. The needles stimulate your nervous system, releasing natural painkillers that can alleviate TMJ pain.

Trigger point therapy is a neuromuscular therapy designed to correct muscular imbalances and relieve pain. The trigger points are tight knotted bands of muscle that cause pain in the local area in addition to referred pain that spreads in a specific pattern add often producing tension type headaches. Trigger point therapy includes dry needling (acupuncture needles are inserted into the trigger points to provide relief).

How many acupuncture treatments will I need to treat my acupuncture? This is case specific. Following an assessment Dr Roop Mann will advise you on how many sessions you require. In general six treatments spaced at weekly intervals are advised for the best results. Further sessions may be recommended depending on how well you respond to acupuncture.
